Habits that hatch.

Privacy

What Eggling does with your information. The short answer is that it stays on your phone.

Who we are: Eggling is made by Flock & Fable (Pty) Ltd, South Africa (“we”).

The short version

What stays on your phone

Everything you put into Eggling stays on your phone:

Nourish entries never leave your phone unless you save or share a backup yourself.

Backups

Android backup: if backup is on for your Google account, Android may include Eggling’s data in your device backup. That backup is stored by Google under your Google account and settings, not by us.

Backup files and spreadsheet export: when you tap “Save a backup file” or “Export check-ins”, the file is created on your phone and goes only where you send it.

Things you share

The share card picture and the “My month’s nest” PDF are made on your phone. They go only where you choose to send them. Habit names are hidden on the share card unless you switch them on.

Reminders

Reminders are scheduled on your phone by Android. They aren’t sent from a server.

Real weather (optional, off by default)

If you switch on Real weather, Eggling asks for your approximate location.

Sharing text into Eggling

If you share text into Eggling from another app (Android’s Share menu), it’s shown to you in Eggling and saved only if you choose to add it. It stays on your phone.

Purchases

Purchases (Eggling Plus, packs and little extras) are handled by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to check which purchases are active on your device.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, a crash report — device model, Android version, app version and what went wrong, with no habit data — is sent to Sentry so we can fix it.

Children

Eggling is made for teens and adults. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from them. The eating window and food log in the optional Nourish pack are only for people 18 or older.

Health and wellbeing

Eggling is a habit tracker. It isn’t medical, nutrition or mental-health advice, and it doesn’t treat or diagnose anything.

If eating feels hard, free support is at findahelpline.com.

Your rights (POPIA)

Your data is on your phone, so you’re in control:

For anything about purchases or RevenueCat, contact us at info@flockandfable.co.za and we’ll help. You can also contact South Africa’s Information Regulator.

If you’re outside South Africa

Play puts Eggling in front of people everywhere, so the same rules apply wherever you are.

Europe and the UK (GDPR). What you make in Eggling stays on your phone, so we are not processing it. The only personal data that reaches anyone is your purchase information, handled by Google Play, and the anonymous app ID that RevenueCat uses to check which purchases are active. The lawful basis for that is performing the contract between us. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making. To ask about it, write to info@flockandfable.co.za. You can complain to your national data protection authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. We don’t collect the categories of data that would make “do not sell” meaningful.

Everywhere. We have no servers holding your habits, so a request to see or delete your data is answered by the app itself: “Save a backup file” shows you everything, and uninstalling removes it.

Purchases are handled by Google, whose own privacy policy applies. Open-Meteo receives rounded coordinates only when you switch on Real weather.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
